Our last week --- no new assignments and no new material

Our final exam is Tuesday, Dec 10, 3:30 - 5:30, in the same testing room as all other semester exams:  CR 133.

Sunday, November 10, 2013

Test 3 is this week.   A second B-average would be just so terrific.  See the Tests page for sample exams and answers, and for a new set of Sample Problems.  The tests  covers Sections 3.10, 4.1-4.5, and 4.7-4.9.  We have 4 review sessions outside normal class time:
  1. Sunday night 6 - 8 PM in the MathLab, entering by the west entrance of Ross Hall
  2. Monday and Wednesday evenings, 6:30 - 8:30, in CR 219
  3. Thursday in HS 105, 12 - 1:00 PM

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

We did it.  Congrats on a class average of B.

This week we bear down on Ch 4, skipping sections 4.6 and most of 4.2.  Exam 3 is on 11/14.

Exam Week Again

  • Our testing room is again CR 133.
  • For those who wish to join me, I'll again conduct a test review in CR 219 on both Monday and Wednesday evenings, 6:30 - 8:30.
  • Exam 2 covers Sections 3.1 - 3.7 and 3.9.  See the Test tab for review materials.  Click here to download the formulas page that you'll receive with the exam.

Our notebooks are filled with such lengthy expressions because our practice involves all sorts of functions, and we have learned three powerful techniques.
  • Chain rule
  • Implicit differentiation
  • Logarithmic differentiation
Exam 2 is next week, and it covers Sections 3.1 - 3.7 and Section 3.9.

Post Exam & Lots of Derivatives to Master

    Practice Every Day!

    Monday, September 16, 2013

    Exam Week

Good morning everyone.  Week 4, and Thursday we have our first exam.

    • Our testing room is CR 133.
    • For those who wish to join me, I'll conduct a test review in CR 219 on both Monday and Wednesday evenings, 6:30 - 8:30.
    • Six of us met last night to review, and we mostly practiced using the difference quotient to derivative derivative formulas and looking at the difference quotient set-up to identify f(x) and the base point a (see page 151, exercises 33-38)
On a lighter note, here's a short video of kids playing with infinity notions, like infinity squared!

Great work on WebAssign this weekend!  Guess I really can expect more :-)

    Tuesday, August 6, 2013

    Welcome to Section 7
    Math 2200, MTWF 12:00
    Calculus I

We meet in Health Sciences 463, the building shown here on the western edge of campus.  Please check the syllabus page to prepare for class Monday.

We have moved!  Starting tomorrow 8/27

As I promised in class today --- I tried and succeeded in finding better spaces for our class meetings.  I know it's a little weird, but we'll meet in two different places:

MWF -- AG 2018 (2nd floor, north east end -- newer part of bldg)
TR (Thursday optional) -- HS 105

Since Tuesdays will often be days of group work, HS 105 is perfect in that there are complete white board walls and a lounge area just outside.
